Growing up she wanted to either be an anesthesiologist or an accountant. While she studied to be an ultrasound technician, she found she had a knack for numbers. She grew up in southern California in a town smaller in size than what Estacada is today, where she had horses. She moved to Oregon City in 2005, and now she has horses again.
Cheri (pronounced Sheree) Dowhan had been in public accounting for over 15 years before moving to Oregon. In order to practice in Oregon, she became licensed in this state in September 2009, and later bought Jerry Olsen’s Accounting Business in January 2009. Cheri looked at several communities before choosing Estacada. She liked the diverse client base here and the shorter and nicer commute from home.
“I like a small town. In a bigger town we get lost. The best part of my job is helping people. That’s why I do what I do. Sometimes I feel like a counselor when people are dealing with difficult situations like divorce, death or the IRS.”
“Our service sets us apart from our competition and we accommodate our clients by having off-season office hours. We can help minimize people’s taxes; and the Estacada residents don’t have to go out of town to get their taxes or bookkeeping done. Every town needs an accountant or two. I have a lot of business from out-of-towners who come to town, for their tax and accounting needs, and while here they shop and have lunch. This helps our entire community. Our fees are quite reasonable compared to others.”

Cheri adds, “We’ve made a lot of changes in the office over the past couple of years; and are always trying to improve. Things are much different than they were three years ago. We are open all year. Come in and see what we have to offer.”
